SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - After a sunny and dry week, showers and thunderstorms return to the Suncoast on Saturday. So far we’re holding at 9.23” of rain for October. That is 3 times our normal October rain of 2.76”. Today’s rain will likely be widespread for the northern Suncoast, but more hit-and-miss for the southern Suncoast. A cold front is moving through the Suncoast on Saturday, bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout early afternoon. It will likely be a wet morning and afternoon as the system pushes through, so plan accordingly if you’re heading out. Highs will only reach 80° with North winds picking up to 10 to 20 mph. Saturday night skies will clear out quickly. By Sunday, we’ll see mostly sunny skies and much drier air settling in. But lookout for the wind - Northeast winds will push 20 to 25 mph, gusting to 30 mph.
