Ormond Beach city commissioners are planning a workshop to discuss the future of River Bend Golf Course, a property that has sat vacant since 2020 and drawn renewed attention after three letters of intent were recently submitted. The proposals include two separate bids to reopen the course as a golf facility and one to expand the adjacent airport business park. The course is part of the city’s airport property, which means the Federal Aviation Administration also has a role in determining how the land can be used.Nearby residents have long pushed for the course to reopen. Arthur Armstrong, a resident who lives near the property, said the wait has gone on long enough.“It’s been closed too long. I think we had 48 million tee times in the state of Florida last year,” Armstrong said.Mayor Jason Leslie said growing interest in golf — and growing interest from developers — reflects a broader national trend.[WATCH: Ormond Beach residents frustrated over River Bend Golf Course’s future after 6-
