Thanks to V. for sending just before 9am: This morning I noticed an awfully strong burnt rubber/chemical smell at Woodley Park metro that started all the way up at the top of the escalators. When I asked two metro attendees if there was smoke and asked why the air looked hazy, these two men proceeded to dismiss my concerns, said That s public transportation, it s not gonna hurt you girl . I responded that I ve been using public transportation for over a decade and never seen/smelled it this bad where I ve felt the need to ask before. They mentioned it was from the train brakes and that they just have to live with it. I tried to cover my nose/mouth while waiting for the train, but now I have a headache. So in the end, it did hurt me. Shout-out to the dismissive folks at the station. Nobody, including employees, should be inhaling fumes. Ed. Note: As yet, no reports from Metro nor DC Fire and EMS.
