Following the historic rain event in Brevard county, water continues to drain into the St. Johns River.Through the weekend, water will continue to flow north-to-south through the river into Volusia, Seminole and Lake counties. The St. Johns near Cocoa is expected to crest in major flood stage Friday. For comparison, the crest near Cocoa is expected to be higher than that of the flood brought on by Hurricane Ian. Minor to moderate flooding is expected downstream from Brevard county. The St. Johns is a notoriously slow-moving river, which will keep the river flooded to some degree for weeks.
