Wild hogs spotted near Oviedo’s Riverwoods Park are wandering into the Alafaya Woods neighborhood, prompting the city to look for a trapper.City officials say they’ve received multiple calls about the hogs in recent weeks. They believe the animals are coming from wooded areas near the Econlockhatchee River and Shane Kelly Park in search of food.Residents who see wild hogs should stay away and not feed them, city officials said. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission classifies wild hogs as a non-native, destructive species. They use their snouts to dig for food, tearing up soil and plants and leaving areas looking like plowed land. The city plans to hire a licensed and insured trapper to work with its Recreation and Parks Department. Before hiring someone, the city must seek proposals through a formal bidding process.Trappers interested in the work can apply once the request for proposals is posted on the purchasing division page of the city’s website. For more information,
